What Is a Whole of Home Assessment?
Introduced as part of NCC 2022 and mandatory nationally since 2023, the Whole of Home (WoH) framework looks beyond the building fabric that NatHERS assesses and evaluates your home's total annual energy budget. That means heating and cooling, hot water systems, lighting, cooking appliances and any on-site renewable generation like solar PV are all scored together against a national benchmark.
A WoH assessment produces a score out of 100, with most jurisdictions requiring a minimum threshold alongside your NatHERS star rating. The two work together: NatHERS covers how well your home retains temperature, WoH covers how efficiently the whole household runs.
